financial settlement

Negotiations surrounding a divorce settlement can often cause the most upset and anger. However, it may be possible to reach a financial settlement without going through the stress of a trial in court, making the process easier and more cost effective for both parties.

Reaching a financial settlement in this way involves you and your spouse agreeing between yourselves how any property and finances will divided.  Your lawyer can then draw up a Consent Order which details the agreement you have come to.  Both parties then sign the agreement and it is then sent to the Court.

Provided that the Judge is happy that the agreement is a fair and reasonable one, the Judge will the sign and seal the document, making it legally binding.
